Lok Virsa Museum

MUSEUMS

Lok Virsa (Nation Institute of Folk Heritage), established in 1974 is a specialized organization with a mandate for field research, collection, cultural studies, oral traditions, folklore indigenous cultural heritage and traditional culture.

In order to give substantive legal status ti Lok Virsa broadening its area of activities and enabling it to generate its own resources other than Government grants the existing resolution has been converted into an ordinance, promulgated by the President of Pakistan on 17 September 2002.

In a short period spanning three decades, Lok Virsa has made notable achievements despite progressive resource constraints.

NIFTH (Lok Virsa) is reconstituted in accordance with the provision of this ordinance is a body corporate having perpetual succession and a common seal with powers, subject to the provisions of this Ordinance.

WHEN TO GO

At 620 metres (1700 feet) above sea level, Islamabad is at its best from October to April, when the days are crisp and cool, and the nights are cold. Spring is short, but the flowers in March are a riot of colour. The hottest months are May and June, before the monsoon, but even then the climate is usually not oppressive, and you can always escape to the hills. 2250 metres (7400 feet) above sea level.

Road) and 382.6 kilometres (287.7 miles) from Lahore (4Hours 30min) and 185.7 Kilometres (116 Miles) from Peshawar (2 Hours 30min) on the Motorway/AH1.
