The main drive through the park takes you to a junction. Turn left to pass a huge modern sculpture of a star and crescent, and right a little further on for the Rose and Jasmine Garden, where the annual flower and rose shoes are held in spring. This road leads past
the camping site to Murree Road, near Aabpara Market. The road straight on by the star and crescent passes close to the Friendship Sports Stadium.
Rose and Jasmine Garden was a much cleaner and much more beautiful park 20 years earlier. It has deteriorated over the years due to lack of interest and poor maintenance by responsible CDA staff. The park has an excellent location but needs better maintenance. The park used to have an excellent collection of roses but quality of roses has really deteriorated in last few years. Roses are maintenance heavy plants and can't survive neglect. Let's hope they bloom better this year but doesn't look like. Many like me would like this park to be better maintained. It has all the potential to be a top park in the city.

WHEN TO GO
At 620 metres (1700 feet) above sea level, Islamabad is at its best from October to April, when the days are crisp and cool, and the nights are cold. Spring is short, but the flowers in March are a riot of colour. The hottest months are May and June, before the monsoon, but even then the climate is usually not oppressive, and you can always escape to the hills. 2250 metres (7400 feet) above sea level.
